
A 55 minute video presenting a history of Kidsgrove from the late 18th Century to the present day, with the local canals providing a unifying backdrop. The film includes locations such as Hardingswood, Clough Hall Park and Gardens, St. Thomas' Church and Schools, the Trent and Mersey, and Macclesfield Canals, mines and factories and many more. The film describes the contributions to the area of such folk as James Brindley, John Gilbert, Thomas Kinnersey, Thomas Telford and the Rev. F. Wade.The film includes photographs, slides and illustrations provided by the Kidsgrove and Hanley libraries to provide an interesting mix of historical record and a leisurely canal side stroll along the Macclesfield canal towards Congleton, and the "Trent and Mersey" towards Church Lawton.
